Welsh singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer and founder of the legendary Velvet Underground John Cale will return to the Czech Republic after five years. Accompanied by his band, he will perform on March 1, 2023 in Prague at the Archa Theatre. He will bring songs from the new album MERCY, which will be released early next year. Tickets on sale in advance from October 21 in the GoOut network and at the theatre Box Office.

The famous American musician, founder of the famous band The Velvet Underground, played a crucial role in the story of Archa Theatre. He played a lot of concerts here in various ensembles. In 1994, together with the Japanese dancer Min Tanaka, he created the very first performance that inaugurated Archa Theatre.  It is only natural that in March 2023, a concert by this inspiring artist will be part of the final season of Archa Theatre, entitled The Cornerstones of the Future.

When it comes to John Cale (80), he proves that age is just a number. He still performs, composes new songs and is actively pursuing his career as he is currently on tour around the Great Britain. His first performance here happened in former Czechoslovakia in 1992 at Lucerna Palace. Since then, he has returned to the Czech Republic several times. One of the concerts was with revived band Velvet Underground, which he helped to establish. “I am fond of Prague and Czech fans,” said John Cale in interview for iDnes in 2006. Milena Palečková states on behalf of the organizing agency 10:15 Entertainment that: "We believe that it is still true and that John Cale fans will be delighted. I am excited that the performance will take place at Archa Theatre. For me, it will be a farewell to this space in its current form, where we have done many beautiful concerts."

During the March performance, there will certainly be a performance of the new album MERCY, scheduled for release on January 20, 2023. Cale and his bandmates have prepared twelve original songs and it's the first full album of new songs in ten years. Domino Records has released the Story of Blood music video as the first track from the album.
