SVOBODA?SVOBODA!SLOBODA?SLOBODA!FREIHEIT?FREIHEIT!

3.12.2009

The international theatre project FREEDOM? FREEDOM!, which was created by Czech, German and Slovak playwrights as a contribution to the anniversary of the revolutionary changes of 1989 will be performed on December 5 and 8 at the Theaterdiscounter in Berlin and the Kampnagel Theatre in Hamburg. The project also includes a production by the Archa Theatre, Window of Opportunity, directed by Jana Svobodova. Window of Opportunity is always a premiere and a finale. The performances are always created based on the given space and the given cultural-historic conditions. The project also features workshops for students from local high schools and universities, who also actively participate in the performances.

FREEDOM? FREEDOM!
Since the beginning of 2008, Czech, German, Slovak and Austrian theatre people together with historians and artists under the auspices of the 68/89 divadlo.doba.dějiny project have been looking at the relationship between the events of 1968 and 1989 from many perspectives. At the conclusion of the project, four theatre productions emerged, which in very different ways examine the transformation of 1989 and its results. A theatrical search for the spirit of the revolutionary changes and feelings of a generation produced by Divadlo Husa na provázku (Brno), Stanica (Žilina), Sophiensaele (Berlin), Kampnagel (Hamburg) and the Archa Theatre.
