The EKG literary music show of Igor Malijevský and Jaroslav Rudiš will on Wednesday, April 14 be devoted to Love and Poland. The authors have invited to Prague’s Archa Theatre contemporary Polish writer Marek Sóbol, whose texts have yet to be translated into Czech, photographer Ewelina Niemczura, Poland specialist, poet and translator of Václav Burian and John Paul II, and songwriter Vladimír Merta, who among other things will perform several songs by Polish poet and songwriter Jacek Kaczmarski.

We asked the protagonists, why Poland?
“Because it is a lot more interesting than many of us still realize. At the turn of the millennium Krakow’s Kazimierz district had and perhaps still has just as intoxicating a creative energy as Paris’s Parnas once had. For example, one evening the Alchemia cafe was full of live chickens and the like,” explained Malijevský.

“Anyone who hasn’t had a Polish woman doesn’t know what love is,” added Rudiš.

ABOUT EKG

EKG is a literary musical show, which in collaboration with Archa Theatre has been headed by Igor Malijevský and Jaroslav Rudiš since the start of 2007. EKG is today the largest Czech scene for live literature and aims to cross over genres and generations. The protagonists are always on the border of literary reading, musical evening and theatrical cabaret; each show is a premiere and a final performance at the same time. Improvisation, communication with the audience and authorial recitals of new texts by contemporary Czech writers all feature prominently in the performance.

In Czech.

Do you want your writing to be read?
Igor Malijevský and Jaroslav Rudiš will be happy to read your prose samples (up to 1.5 standard pages - 2,700 characters with spaces) or 3 poems. E-mail your writing samples to ekg@archatheatre.cz and include "EKG: vyšetření" in the subject of the e-mail. Also provide brief information about yourself (name, age, telephone number, etc.)

Results:
The selected authors will be invited to a performance of EKG. The results of the reading are not objective and depend on personal taste, EKG's themes, and the weather.  Authors who are not contacted still have a reason to live!
