Sylvie Krobová - Svět podivínů

Sylvie Krobová - Svět podivínů

4/12/2008 20:00 - Two years after her debut album, songstress Sylvie Krobová releases a new CD called Svět podivínů (The World of Oddballs), which is again being released by the Prague record label Black Point Music. Concert and launch of new CD.

Svět podivínů is a naked look at the world through the eyes of an artist. For Sylvie Krobová and pianist and accordion player Tomáš Alfer the world is not simple. It took Sylvie two years to be satisfied with the new material. She found a new accompaniment, so the new songs feature unusual accompaniment of two keyboards or pianos together with an accordion. In Svět podivínů Krobová and Alferi tell the story of their scars and triumphs in a partly strange and warmly pathetic chamber-style and partly in a completely raw style, which is as fragile and clean as crystal and in its own way peaceful.

Sylvie Krobová is an independent and original interpreter of her own songs, which she debuted under the same record label in 2006 in the delicately gloomy album Stín (Shade). In return she acquired many devoted followers as well as praise from music critics, who hailed her as a unique phenomenon on the local scene. Sylvie is a classically trained musician; she studied singing at the Prague conservatory and subsequently performed with the Kuhnov choir, the Agon group and the rock band Drakar. She later performed with Štěpán Smetáček’s group and was a guest singer with the MCH Band.

In addition to music, Krobová is intensely involved in theatre. She performs at Divadlo Ladislava Smoljaka, has been a guest at Divadlo Na tahu, which is headed by her father, the director Andrej Krob, and at Divadlo Na zábradlí. She also performs in the cabaret l’Ombre with her husband, clown Jiří Bilbo Reidenger, with whom she has a family road show featuring a wide range of plays.

Sylvie Krobová on her new CD:
“The world of oddballs is in my conception a world that is picturesque, fragile, open and warm... It’s the way of life in which I feel best and which I seek. The music, songs and lyrics on this CD are an invitation to a special peace and emotional enjoyment; the longing as you listen to close your eyes and venture into your inner world – that’s how I feel when I sing, without any fear about where I’m going. It’s an opportunity to not only listen to external noises, but also to enter into oneself.”

Concert. No language barrier.
